# MaxtDesign Cookie Consent - Google Consent Mode v2 - Translations

## For Translators

Thank you for helping translate MaxtDesign Cookie Consent - Google Consent Mode v2!

### Translation Process

**Option 1: WordPress.org (Recommended)**

Once the plugin is approved on WordPress.org, you can contribute translations directly through the WordPress.org translation portal:

1. Visit: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/maxtdesign-cookie-consent
2. Select your language
3. Translate strings online
4. Translations will be automatically distributed with the plugin

**Option 2: Manual Translation (Before WordPress.org Approval)**

1. Download `maxtdesign-cookie-consent.pot` from this directory
2. Open with Poedit (https://poedit.net/) or similar translation tool
3. Create a new translation from the .pot file
4. Translate all strings
5. Save as `maxtdesign-cookie-consent-{locale}.po` and `maxtdesign-cookie-consent-{locale}.mo`
   - Example: `maxtdesign-cookie-consent-es_ES.po` for Spanish (Spain)
   - Example: `maxtdesign-cookie-consent-fr_FR.po` for French (France)
6. Place both .po and .mo files in this `/languages/` directory
7. Contact us to include your translation in the next release

### Locale Codes

Common locale codes:
- `es_ES` - Spanish (Spain)
- `fr_FR` - French (France)
- `de_DE` - German (Germany)
- `it_IT` - Italian (Italy)
- `pt_BR` - Portuguese (Brazil)
- `ja` - Japanese
- `zh_CN` - Chinese (Simplified)
- `ru_RU` - Russian

### Translation Guidelines

1. Keep it concise - UI text should be short and clear
2. Be consistent - Use the same terminology throughout
3. Maintain tone - Professional but friendly
4. Test your translation - Install plugin and verify all strings display correctly
5. Context matters - Read translator comments (/* translators: ... */)

### String Coverage

This plugin contains approximately 80-100 translatable strings:
- Admin interface: ~40 strings
- Frontend popup: ~15 strings
- Shortcodes: ~25 strings
- Error messages: ~10 strings

### Testing Your Translation

1. Place .mo file in `/languages/` directory
2. Change WordPress language: Settings > General > Site Language
3. Visit plugin admin page and frontend to verify translations
4. Check that all buttons, labels, and messages are translated
