Edit Recent Posts Plugin

A simple plugin to show the most-recently edited posts (or pages) under the Posts and Pages menus, as well as any custom post types you have set up. This lets you quickly jump to those pages to edit them, saving at least one click and some load time too.

How do I use it?

Just install the plugin into your wp-content/plugins folder, or search the WordPress Plugins Directory from within WordPress to install.

After you activate the plugin, hover over the “Pages” menu in your admin and you’ll see what’s new.

You can adjust settings (under Settings > Edit Recent Posts) to change which post types are enabled, and how many recent items appear on the menu. It’s all very straightforward.

My site uses WPML, is it compatible?

Not entirely. If you edit a post in one language, your menus will change to show all the recent posts in that language. This may be okay for you, or it may not. Either way, full compatibility with WPML is something I definitely want to add for the next version.

If you don’t use WPML (or don’t know what it is), none of the above applies, don’t worry about it. :-)

I’ve got an idea/fix for the code!

Cool! At some point I’ll get the code up on Github but for now, just tweet or email me! I’m @ericmueller and eric@ericmueller.org.

Thanks to Hugh Lashbrooke for his excellent WP Plugin Template, and to my friends who tried early versions of this plugin and offered valuable feedback (especially Nico Martin and David Tolnem).
