# ChatPod AI plugin translations

Source strings are wrapped with `__()` / `esc_html__()` / `_e()` against the
text domain `chatpod-ai`. Translations live as `.po` files in this directory
and are compiled to `.mo` for runtime use.

Supported locales (matching `backend/locales/`):

* `he_IL` — Hebrew (Israel)
* `en_US` — English (United States) — the source language, no translation needed
* `en_GB` — English (United Kingdom) — diffs from en_US only

(WordPress locale codes use underscores; the backend uses BCP-47 hyphens.
Same language, different separator.)

## Updating translations

1. Edit `chatpod-ai-<locale>.po` directly, or regenerate via
   `wp i18n make-pot . languages/chatpod-ai.pot --domain=chatpod-ai`
2. Compile `.po` → `.mo` with `msgfmt`:
   ```
   msgfmt languages/chatpod-ai-he_IL.po -o languages/chatpod-ai-he_IL.mo
   ```
3. Commit both files.

`.mo` is the binary form WP loads at runtime; `.po` is the source.

## Currently committed

Only the `.po` source files are committed in this branch. The CI build job
should compile them to `.mo` (`msgfmt`) before packaging the plugin zip.
