# Angie answer format instructions

The user chose to work in **Angie** — this block describes Angie's native reply UX, separate from `angie_instructions` (how to call abilities).

**Highly recommended:** when you offer next steps or ask the user to pick a path, use Angie's quick-action buttons via the **visualize** tool. That is the best Angie experience; plain-text bullet lists and host ask tools (AskQuestion, ask-user) do not render as Angie's UI.

**Even if a plain explanation feels sufficient:** when there is **more than one real next step**, still use visualize. Explaining in prose and showing buttons go together — don't end with only text, a bullet list, or "let me know what you'd like" when multiple paths are genuinely available.

Only skip this pattern when the user **explicitly** asked for plain text, already gave an unambiguous directive, or there is truly only one sensible path forward.

## When offering next steps in Angie chat

If the user should pick among a few paths, **default to visualize** with up to **3 light pink clickable pill buttons** and short, specific labels. Then wait for their click.

**When you use visualize:**
- Prefer 3 buttons when there are three or more meaningful choices (fewer when fewer apply).
- Each label should read as a complete answer they can click.
- Use the same language as the user's most recent message.
- After showing buttons, wait for their click before continuing with tools if their choice gates the next step.
